I get many many emails asking me how to do this effect so here it is. The photo I used here is from a wonderful photographer Jen Meyer whose work can also be found at the StockXChang.
Resources- PSP 7.
- The beginning image. You can use one of your own or download the one I have used HERE. Unzip it to your harddrive and open in PSP. Delete the watermark layer.
Let's get started
- Open the image and add a new layer.
- Get the rectangular selection tool and make the selection the size you want. Give the selection a shadow with settings of your choosing (Effects->3d-Effects->drop shadow). Add a new raster layer.
- Flood fill the selection with black (or a color of your choice).
- Now go to Selections->Modify->Contract. Contract by 1, or a setting to your liking. Hit the delete key. Add a new raster layer.
- Flood fill with a color of your choice. Lower the opacity to the layer to your liking. Select none.
- **Optional**Add any decoration you wish.
- Add a new layer and add your text.
There you have it, short and sweet.   Merge all and save. I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and found it easy to follow. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to .
