This is a very easy brushed metal effect that can be made in any color.   By varying the color in the bottom layer or changing the layer blend modes you can get many different effects.   Try it!

  1. Open an image large enough to accomodate your text with a white background.   Add a new layer.
  2. Get a font to your liking and apply it as a selection.  A large wide font works best for this.   (I used 1 Nitro DNA in 72 pt.
  3. Get the bucket tool (f) normal blend mode, opacity 100 and flood fill with the gradient using the following settings:

    gradient settings

  4. Go to Adjust->Add/Remove Noise->Add noise and add at the following settings:

    noise settings

  5. Now go to Adjust->Blur->motion blur and give it a blur at the following settings:

    blur settings

  6. Now give it another shot of noise but change to 76%.
  7. Give it another motion blur and change the direction to 266.00
  8. Go to Adjust->Sharpness->Sharpen and sharpen twice.
  9. While still selected add a new raster layer.   Go to Selections->Modify->Expand and expand the selection by 1.
  10. Flood fill the selection with color #808080.   Drag this layer below the text layer.   Turn off visibilty to the background layer then merge the visible layers by going to layers->merge->merge visible.   Give it a drop shadow to your taste, merge all/flatten and your done.
