Let's get started
*Please note: If you install this tutorial as a quick guide you may get a script error when trying to view the images, just click "yes" at the prompt and the images will show properly. Don't know how to install quick guides? then check out the tutorial found HERE.- Open new image 500px x 500px with a transparent background then flood fill with white.
- Go to effect-> texture effects-> weave and apply the following settings:
- Activate the magic wand
add mode, RGB Value, tolerance 0, feather 0, inside. Click in the top left black square. - Go to Selections->modify->select similar with tolerance 0 and discontigous checked.
- Hit the delete key (or edit->clear).
- Invert the selection (crtl+shift+I).
- Give it 2 inner bevels with the metallic settings.
- Select none.
- Duplicate the layer then click on the mover tool
and move this second layer similar to shown below. Make a rectangular selection as shown then crop to the selection. (I have added a white layer on the bottom so I could see what I am doing. Yours at this point should have a transparent background)
- Merge visible.
- Now activate the deform tool
. While holding the shift key drag the bottom left node up to 400 (turn your rulers on if need be). Then grab the middle handle and rotate as shown:
- Apply the deform (click to any other tool) then sharpen. (Adjust->sharpness->sharpen). Crop to just inside the links on all sides.
And your done! You can give it a drop shadow but it really depends on what you use it for. No shadow was applied to my finished product. You can also export it as a tube. (offered in my tube section
).
I hope you found this tutorial useful and easy to follow. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to .
