This tutorial may not exactly age the photo, but it does give it an ethreal quality. The use of the sofening effect is also a good way to melt the years away and cover imperfections. Apply these techniques with a little tweeking to that photo you think makes you look older than dirt or crator faced and you will be pleasantly surprised!

- The image. Download it HERE The zip contains a photograph by kosmo3d a great photographer whose work can be found at the Stock xhange. This zip is quite large so if you like you can use a photo of your own, just remember to change the size of your brushes to suit your needs.
Let's get started
*Please note: If you install this tutorial as a quick guide you may get a script error when trying to view the images, just click "yes" at the prompt and the images will show properly. Don't know how to install quick guides? then check out the tutorial found HERE.- Open the beginning image and change it to greyscale image by going to image->greyscale.
- Increase the color depth by going to image->increase color depth->16 million colors.
- Go to Effects->Artistic Effects->Sepia Toning and age it 45.
- Set the foreground color to #07BF07.
- Now activate the Change to Target Brush
with the following settings:

Go over the iris of both eyes as shown below:
- Change the Target brush settings hardness to 8, density 20, opacity 12, all other settings the same. Change the foreground color to # AC07BF and carefully go over the lips.
- Ok lets give her hair a few highlights. Change the Brush size to 163 and opacity to 28 and the foreground color to #F82B26 and give the hair about 3 long swipes of color.
- Now duplicate the layer (Layers->duplicate or press the
). Now lets give her a softer look to smooth out her skin. - Go to Adjust->Softness->soft focus and select the "soft portrait" preset from the drop down menu.
- Now let's bring out her eyes a little. Activate the eraser tool
with the following settings:
- Erase over the pupils, whites and lashes of the eyes. If you don't like how much you take off remember ctrl+z is your friend.
- Merge all layers and your done.
