Lily Like Background

The pattern on this background kind of reminds me of lillies, hence the name...lol.   It works best as a background for a web page just use a light colored overlay to make it really outstanding!   Please be warned that the beginning image is of a guy in his underwear so if you have any objections to this please do not continue.

Let's get started

  1. Open the beginning image and give it a gaussian blur radius 15 (Adust->blur)
  2. Duplicate the layer.
  3. Ctrl+M to mirror it.
  4. Ctrl+I to flip it.   Set the layer blend mode to overlay.
  5. Duplicate the layer.   Your layer palette should look like this:
  1. Flip this layer then set the layer blend mode to ligthen.
  2. Merge the visible layers.   You should now have 1 layer and the image should look like this:

  1. Duplicate the layer.
  2. Ctrl+R to free rotate it 90 degrees left, making sure all layers is UNchecked.
  3. Set the layer blend mode to difference.   Merge the visible layers.
  4. Apply glowing edges filter (Effects->Artistic Effects->Glowing edges).
  5. Now crop just inside the whiteish ridges that formed when you gave it the glow.
  6. Make it a seemless tile (Effects->Image Effects->seamless tiling) by using the following settings:

This give you the first finished tile shown on the left above.   To get the second tile, a more subtle appearence...
  1. Duplicate the layer and set the layer blend mode to soft light.   Merge all layers and save.

Use a nice textured overlay and you have the beginning of a nice web page.
