This is another tutorial in what I call "the office series". This is also something you can use with the bulletin board shown HERE. If you are an intermediate to advanced beginner this tutorial will help you become familar with the pen tool, setting grid lines and use of the status bar. If you're not a beginner well, I hope there is something for you here also
.
Want the paper but don't want to do the tutorial? You can download the tube HERE.
Resources- PSP 8 or 9. If you don't already have a copy you might be able to find one on eBay.
Let's get started
*Please note: If you install this tutorial as a quick guide you may get a script error when trying to view the images, just click "yes" at the prompt and the images will show properly. Don't know how to install quick guides? then check out the tutorial found HERE.- Open a new image 750px x 975px, transparent bg, 72 res, 16mil colors.
- Add a new raster layer and flood fill
it with white. Then set your foreground color to #83C3EF and background color to nil (none). Then add another raster layer ( you should now have 3 raster layers--the transparent one, the white one and a blank one. - Go to View->Change grid, guide & snap properties. Leave the default settings as they are but change the current image settings as follows:
- Get the pen tool with the following settings:
- Now grab the sides of your image and pull them out to give you more room similar to shown below. While watching the status bar click at (x0, y100) and again at (x749, y100). This will make the first blue line.
- Now comes the tedious part. Ctrl+C to copy the line. Ctrl+E to paste as a selection and move the line down to the grid line under the first blue line, making sure the lines extend over/to both sides. Left click to set the line. Continue in this manner until you have a blue line over each grid line. Once you have all the lines in place Ctrl+D to select none.
- Now pull the top and bottom of the image out to give you move room this way. Set your forground color to #FCBEC7, get the pen tool with the same settings as before.   Click at (x90, y0) and again at the bottom at (x90, y974). Select none.
- Turn the grid visability off. If any of your lines do not extend over the sides get the crop tool
and crop off just enough to make the lines extend. - Turn visability off to the transparent layer (raster 1 or the bottom layer) and merge visible. You should now have 2 layers (the transparent layer and the paper layer).
- Turn on the rulers (view->rulers) if they aren't already. Click on and hold down on the left ruler then drag the guide out similar to shown below:

- Get the circular selection tool and make a selection to the left of the red line and at about the first line. Use the guide you made to make alignment of the holes easier. Now hit the delete key to make the hole. Get the mover tool
hold the right mouse button down and drag the selection to the middle of paper and repeat. Repeat for the third hole. - Ctrl+D to select none. Delete the transparent layer then export your finished paper as a tube. Save the finished paper as a .gif if you wish.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and found it easy to follow. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to .
