This is an easy way to make a rock texture. You can customize the color to suit your needs. The color I chose reminds me of Oklahoma red soil.
Resources- PSP 8 or 9. If you don't already have a copy you might be able to find one on eBay.
- Filters Unlimited. You can download a demo HERE.
Let's get started
*Please note: If you install this tutorial as a quick guide you may get a script error when trying to view the images, just click "yes" at the prompt and the images will show properly. Don't know how to install quick guides? then check out the tutorial found HERE.- Open a new image 500px x 500px, white background, 72 res, 16 mil colors.
- Set your foreground color to #A55507 and background color to white. Bring up the Filters Unlimited plugin, click on Render. Chose Clouds (fore-/background color). Change cloud type to 135 and gamma to 99 then apply.
- Go to Effects->Art media effects->brush strokes and apply the following settings:

- Duplicate the background layer. Apply the Filters Unlimited again.
- Set the layer blend mode to multiply.
- Colorize (Shift+L) the layer using hue 25 sat 124.
