Let's get started
*Please note: If you install this tutorial as a quick guide you may get a script error when trying to view the images, just click "yes" at the prompt and the images will show properly. Don't know how to install quick guides? then check out the tutorial found HERE.- Open the beginning image. Shift+D then close the original. Zoom out to a comfortable size.
- Go to Effect->FF C->Versa-Tile and apply scale 255, Number of tiles 126. This will give you both of the patterns shown below. Make a rectangular selection around the pattern on the left, copy and paste as a new image. Resize to your taste and save.

- Duplicate the layer (background layer). Then go to Image->Rotate->Free Rotate and rotate the duplicate layer 90 degrees right. Make sure you only rotate the top layer. Lower the opacity of the layer to 50.
- You can move the top layer to give you a different pattern if you want. At this point you can stop here, crop around where the two layer intersect, merge the layers and save or you can go to the next step and give the plaid some texture. It's your call!

- Go to Effects->Texture Effects->Texture and apply the following settings:

And you're done. Resize and save. If you want a larger plaid pattern play with the settings of the Versa Tile filter, but doing so will destroy the canvas-like pattern...just remember that Ctrl-Z is your friend lol.
