Let's get started

*Please note: If you install this tutorial as a quick guide you may get a script error when trying to view the images, just click "yes" at the prompt and the images will show properly. Don't know how to install quick guides? then check out the tutorial found HERE.

  1. Open a new image with a black background 700 x 700 (we will crop later).
  2. Add a new layer
  3. Choose a bright color that contrasts well with the black and set the background to it and foreground to nil (nil means none ). If you use a different font do not choose one with a blank center and keep in mind that setting the foreground to nil may not work.   Apply your text as floating well away from the edges so that the glow will not reach the edge. The size you will choose will depend on the amount of letters in your name so you will have to decide on this point, I used size 55.
  4. Go to Selections->load/save selection->save selection to alpha channel and save.  You can name the selection if you want but it is not necessary.
  5. Go to Effects->3D Effect->Inner Bevel and apply an inner bevel with the following settings:

  1. Select none.
  2. Add new layer then load your selection from the alpha channel (Selections->save/load selection->Load from alpha channel).
  3. Go to selection->modify->expand by 3.
  4. Press F or and flood fill the selection with the same color you used before.
  5. Select none.
  6. Apply a gaussian blur 32.87 (adjust->blur->gaussian blur)
  7. Drag this glow layer below the text layer.
  8. At this point you can resize your image to the size you want.   We initially made it so big so the blur would not overlap the edges To do this hit R or
  9. Duplicate the image (shift+D).
  10. Merge the layers of the original image and save as glow.jpg. Do not optimize it.  Now close the image.
  11. Now working on the duplicate image, delete the glow layer then save it as plain.jpg.  Do not optimize.   You should now have 2 images similar to this:
  1. Now open up Animation shop. Click on the wizard button and use the default on all the settings.   Add the images as shown:

Once you are done, you can view your animation by going to Animation->view then save your animation (I use default settings).   The wizard will automatically optimize your animation for you.   And you are done!
